
Even if only working from home occasionally, employers owe their staff the same duty of care to provide a safe place of work as they do for staff working in an office environment. This requires that the employee's home working arrangements are risk assessed and suitable training is delivered.
Safe Home Working enables employers to meet these requirements with the minimum of fuss and in the most cost efficient and practical manner. The programme consists of two main elements. M3i is a powerful learning management system enabling an administrator to plan, manage, record and report on the entire process. Merlin has considerable experience of building such systems and includes amongst its LMS clients Marks & Spencer, AXA and Kraft Foods.
Launched from the M3i system is a Safe Home Working training and risk assessment programme. The employee watches the video (produced jointly with Royal & Sun Alliance) whilst at their home office, reads detailed guidance notes and then carries out a full self risk assessment on their home office. This assessment is recorded within the M3i system, enabling you to manage and monitor any corrective actions and to do all that is necessary to demonstrate compliance with legislation.
